Yammi is an information tool, not health advice. Scores and warnings are produced automatically from public data by the app's own rules. They are opinions expressed as numbers — not medical, nutritional, allergy or safety advice, and not a substitute for professional guidance or for reading the actual product label.
Yammi reads a product barcode, retrieves that product's record from the public Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts databases, and applies its own scoring rules to the ingredients, additives and nutrition values in that record to produce a score out of 100 and a list of flags.
The app is free to download and includes an allowance of free scans each month. An optional auto-renewing subscription, Yammi Premium, unlocks unlimited scanning. There is no advertising.
Product records come from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts — open, community-maintained databases that anyone can contribute to and edit. We do not create, verify, own or control that information.
This means, and you accept, that a product record may be:
A high score does not mean a product is safe, healthy or suitable for you. A low score does not mean a product is harmful.
Allergies and medical conditions — please read. Never rely on Yammi to decide whether a product is safe for an allergy, intolerance, or any medical or dietary requirement. Allergen information in the underlying database is contributed by volunteers, is frequently incomplete, and may not reflect the product currently on the shelf.
Always read the physical packaging, and consult a doctor, pharmacist or registered dietitian for anything affecting your health. If you are having an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical help immediately.
The scoring rules reflect one particular view of ingredient quality. Nutrition science is contested, and other reasonable methodologies would reach different conclusions about the same product. Scores are presented as informed opinion, not as established scientific fact, and are not a statement about any manufacturer or brand.
Every point deducted is shown alongside the reason for it, so you can judge whether that reasoning applies to you.
Yammi does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease or condition, and is not a medical device. Nothing in the app should be understood as a claim that using it will produce any health outcome.
You agree not to use the app unlawfully; not to attempt to disrupt, overload or circumvent the rate limits of the public databases it relies on; and not to copy or redistribute the app's scoring rules or interface except as permitted by its licence.
Yammi Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks unlimited scanning. Payment is charged to your Apple ID through the App Store; we never see or hold your payment details.
Subscription status is validated through RevenueCat — the Privacy Policy describes exactly what that involves.
Product data is provided by Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) v1.0. That data remains the property of its contributors and is used here under the terms of that licence, with attribution shown in the app. Your use of that data through the app is likewise subject to the ODbL.
Yammi depends on public databases operated by a non-profit third party. Those services may be slow, temporarily unavailable, rate limited or discontinued, and the app will not function fully when they are. We provide the app "as is" and do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability. We are not liable for any loss, harm, illness, expense or damage arising from reliance on scores, flags, ingredient lists, allergen information or any other content in the app.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
These terms may be updated as the app changes. The current version always appears on this page with its date. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
